Prévost was created in 1973 from the amalgamation of the former villages of Shawbridge and Lesage with old Prévost on the other side of the Rivière du Nord. Shawbridge was named after William Shaw (1805-1894) who settled in the township of Abercromby in 1847 and built the first bridge over the Rivière du Nord. Population in 2011: 11,747 (2006 to 2011 population change: 15.9%) and it is my home town since 2004.
Prévost a été créée en 1973 par la fusion des anciens villages de Shawbridge, Lesage et le vieux Prévost de l’autre coté de la Rivière du Nord. Shawbridge fut nommé suivant William Shaw (1805-1894) qui s’établit dans le Canton d’Abercrombie en 1847 et construisit le premier pont surplombant le Rivière du Nord. Population en 2011: 11747 ( en hausse de 15,9% de 2006-2011) et c’est devenu ma ville depuis 2004.
