St. Mark’s Basilica-Basilique St-Marc

 Basilica of Saint Mark is the cathedral church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Venice, northern Italy. It is the most famous of the city’s churches and one of the best known examples of Byzantine architecture. It lies at the eastern end of the Piazza San Marco, adjacent and connected to the Doge’s Palace. Originally it was the chapel of the Doge, and has only been the city’s cathedral since 1807.

La basilique Saint-Marc est la cathédrale de l’archidiocèse catholique de Venise au nord de l’Italie. C’est l’église la plus connue de la ville et un des meilleurs exemples de l’architecture byzantin. Elle est située dans la partie est de la Place St-Marc, adjacente et reliée au Palais des Doges. Originalement l’église était destinée à servir de chapelle au Doge et elle n’est devenue cathédrale  que vers 1807.
