Hope and Odyssey-Espoir et Odyssée

Environmental work exposed to International Mosaicultures 2013, Montreal is the result of a British sculptor: Heather Jansch. This work and two others  « The Uffington White Horse » and « The boars of the island of Sally » come from England. Hope, the foal, and Odyssey, the mare, are made with materials from nature, result of erosion by water timber. A marvel of recovery.

Une oeuvre environnementale exposée aux Mosaïcultures Internationales 2013, Montréal est le fruit d’un sculpteur britannique: Heather Jansch. Cette oeuvre et deux autres, soient « Le cheval blanc d’Uffington » et  » Les sangliers de l’île de Sally », proviennent de l’Angleterre. Espoir, le poulain, et Odyssée, la jument, sont réalisés avec des matériaux provenant de la nature, résultat de l’érosion du bois par l’eau. Une merveille de récupération.

LONDON EYE

The entire structure is 135 metres (443 ft) tall and the wheel has a diameter of 120 metres (394 ft). When erected in 1999 it was the tallest Ferris wheel in the world, until surpassed first by the 160 m (520 ft) Star of Nanchang in 2006 and then the 165 m (541 ft) Singapore Flyer in 2008.

La structure mesure 135 mètres hors tout (443 Pi.) mais la roue a un diamètre de 120 mètres (394 Pi.). Lors de son érection en 1999, elle était la plus haute roue au monde. Elle fut depuis surpassée en 2006 par l’Étoile de Nanchang (160m./520pi.), puis par le Singapore Flyer en 2008 (165m/541pi.).

Tower Bridge

Tower Bridge (built 1886–1894) is a combined bascule and suspension bridge in London, over the River Thames. It is close to the Tower of London, from which it takes its name. It has become an iconic symbol of London and originally it was painted a mid greenish-blue colour before the red-blue-white for the Queen Élizabeth  Silver Jubilee.

Le Tower Bridge (construit de 1886-1894) est un pont basculant franchissant la Tamise, près de la tour de Londres dont il tire son nom.Ce pont est devenu une icône et le symbole de Londres, il était originalement peint d’un vert bleuté moyen avant les couleurs bleue-rouge-blanche du Jubilée d’argent d’Élisabeth II.

Prince Albert Monument and Hall-Le monument et la salle Prince Albert

The Royal Albert Hall is a concert hall on the northern edge of South Kensington, in the City of Westminster, London, England, best known for holding the annual summer Proms concerts since 1941. The Albert Memorial is also situated in Kensington Garden, directly  North to Albert Hall. It was commissioned by Queen Victoria in memory of her beloved husband, Prince Albert who died of typhoid in 1861.

Hé oui, le monument est pris de dos afin de voir le monument et la salle de concert.

The Royal Albert Hall est une salle de concert du coté nord du jardin South Kensington, dans la ville de Westminster, Londres, Angleterre, elle est mieux connue pour sa présentation annuelle de concerts d’été Proms depuis 1941.  Le Monument Albert est aussi situé dans les jardins Kensington, directement au nord de la salle de concert. Commandé par la Reine Victoria en souvenir de son époux bien-aimé, le Prince Albert mort de la fièvre typhoïde en 1861.

The Cavern Club-Le club la Caverne

The Cavern Club is a rock and roll club in Liverpool, England. Opened on Wednesday 16 January 1957, the club had its first performance by The beatles on 9 February 1961;Brian Epstein first saw them performing there on 9 November 1961. Alan Sytner opened the club having been inspired by the Jazz district in Paris, where there were a number of clubs in cellars. Sytner returned to Liverpool and wanted to open a club similar to Le Caveau in Paris.

       This simulation of the then club could be seen in Liverpool at the Beatles Story Museum.

Le Cavern Club  est une salle de spectacle de rock and roll située dans une petite rue du centre de Liverpool, au Royaume-uni. Ouvert le mercredi 16 janvier 1957, c’est là que, pour la première fois, leur futur manager Brian Epstein vit jouer les Beatles, le 9 novembre 1961. Alan Sytner ouvra ce club s’inspirant du District du Jazz de Paris où de nombreux club étaient ouverts dans des caves. En retournant à Liverpool, il voulut un club semblable au Caveau de Paris.

Cette simulation du club de l’époque peut être vu à Liverpool au Musée Historique des Beatles.

Christ the King Cathedral-Cathédrale du Christ-Roi

As I promised yesterday, that is the exterior of the Catholic Cathedral of Liverpool. A bit massive but still a good look because of the wigwam effect. You can check the internet under  google as « virtual tourist ugliest building 2008 » and you will find this building on the 4th position.

Comme promis hier, voici l’extérieur de la cathédrale catholique de Liverpool. Un peu massif comme édifice mais encore beau à cause de l’effet « teepee ». Vous pouvez vérifier sur Google en tapant « virtual tourist ugliest building 2008 » et vous verrez que cet édifice se classe 4e au monde.

Metropolitan Cathedral of Christ the King, usually known as Liverpool Metropolitan Cathedral, is a the roman catholic Cathedral in Liverpool. The Cathedral was voted in 2008 as the  4th uglier building in the world. Might be true for the exterior but the interior is magnificent

La cathédrale du Christ-Roi, connue sous le nom de la Cathédrale métropolitaine , est la cathédrale catholique romaine de Liverpool. En 2008, elle a été votée comme le 4e  édifice le plus laid du monde. Peut-être vrai pour l’extérieur mais l’intérieur est magnifique.

The Clock Tower-La tour de l’horloge

I can hear everyone: it is deja vu. Why the tower? Because our Premier is in London and she will visit Scotland ( Edinburgh) tomorrow and that’s all we hear on TV in Québec. The tower is now known as Elizabeth II Tower since 2012. The bell inside is called BIG BEN and is subject to many debates: is it the bell or the clock or the tower’s name? Who can tell by now?

Je peux tous vous entendre: c’est du déjà vu. Pourquoi la tour? Parce que notre Premier Ministre est à Londres et qu’elle visitera l’Écosse (Édimbourg) demain, c’est tout ce qu’on entend à la TV du Québec. La tour est maintenant connue comme la Tour Elizabeth II depuis 2012. La cloche de la tour est appelée BIG BEN mais est sujette à plusieurs débats: Est-ce le nom de la cloche ou de l’horloge ou de la tour? Qui sait aujourd’hui?
