The Victoria Tower bell was cast in 1875 and installed in the Victoria Tower in 1877. The bell fell from the tower during the fire of the Centre Block in 1916 and is one of the few remnants of the first seat of the Government of Canada. Throughout the fire, the Victoria Tower clock strikes the hour. At midnight, the bell rang eleven times, and then crashes to the ground, while the flames win the Senate.
La cloche de la Tour Victoria a été moulée en 1875 et installée dans la Tour Victoria en 1877. La cloche est tombée de la Tour lors de l’incendie de l’édifice du Centre en 1916 et constitue l’un des rares vestiges du premier siège du Gouvernement du Canada. Tout au long de l’incendie, l’horloge de la Tour Victoria sonne les heures. À minuit, la cloche sonne onze fois, puis s’écrase au sol, tandis que les flammes gagnent le Sénat.
