Found from Mexico and Central America as far of Costa-Rica, this morpho is named M.Polyphemus due to his eyespots on the wings, greek mythology named Polyphemus, the cyclops son of Poseidon and Thoosa.

On le trouve au Mexique ainsi qu’en Amérique Centrale jusqu’au Costa-Rica. Ce morpho est appelé M. Polyphemus à cause de petites ocelles sur ses ailes. Dans la mythologie grecque, Polyphemus était le fils cyclope de Poséidon et Thoosa.
